In February, I joined Tom Strand for a US Bank Small Businesses photo shoot in Minneapolis. We had three shoot days, moving between two small business locations each day. Winter weather added some complexity—snow, ice, and finding spots to park our basecamp motorhome all required extra planning. This project was a nice return for us, since Tom and I last worked with US Bank in Austin a month before the covid shutdown. The Minneapolis locations were thoughtfully decorated, minimizing the need for set dressing. Our focus stayed on capturing images rather than arranging spaces. The crew handled frequent moves and unpredictable conditions well. Each business offered unique details and a welcoming vibe, which translated into strong photos for the campaign. It was rewarding to work again for the same client and to document local businesses that bring so much character to the city.
