I headed back to Wisconsin with Martin Sundberg for another Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) docu-style shoot, this time spotlighting teachers and the ways they’re supported through the arts. The event was called ArtsCore; a partnership between the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, the Paine Art Center and Gardens, and regional public school districts. We spent four days in the Oshkosh area with a small, nimble crew—mostly folks from Minneapolis—and ran a two-camera setup to keep things efficient. The schedule was packed, but we managed to squeeze in interviews and grab plenty of b-roll from events and activities happening throughout the week. Having a lean crew and flexible gear made it easy to move quickly and catch a wide range of moments. The goal was to show how educators and the arts community connect and support each other. Between the interviews and the candid footage, we ended up with a well-rounded look at the program and the people behind it. It was a tight shoot, but the team was focused and dialed in, and we came away with some powerful stories.
